The Sugar Factories Control
Rules, 1950

 Notification No. SOF (Sugar) 13 (22)/72:- In exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 3 of the Foodstuffs (Control) Act, 1958, in its application to the Province of the Punjab, the Governor of the Punjab, is pleased to make the following Order regulating and prohibiting the movement, transport, supply, distribution and use or consumption of sugarcane and trade and commerce therein:-
 
1. (1)  This order may be called the Punjab Sugarcane Control Order, 1972.
  (2)  It shall come into force at once.
   
2. In this order unless the context otherwise requires, the following expressions shall have the meanings hereby respectively assigned to them, that is to say:---
 
(a) ‘Gur’ means articles commonly known as gur, jaggery, shakkar and rab, and includes raw sugar as also uncrystallised sugar in any other form comprising or original and convertible molasses and other impurities, inherent or4 foreign, prepared by boiling cane or palmyra juice;
(b) ‘Sugar’ means (i) any of sugar containing more that ninety percent of sucrose including Khandsari sugar, Desi sugar and Bura, and (ii) any sugar of crystalline structure.
   
3. No person shall, except with the previous permission in writing of the Cane Commissioner or any Officer authorised by him in this behalf, export sugarcane from any area declared as reserved area under Sec. 10 of the Sugar Factories Control Act, 1950 (hereinafter referred to as ‘reserved area’) for the purposes of supply of cane to any of the Sugar Factories mentioned in Schedule.
   
4. In a ‘reserved area’, no person other than the occupier of a Sugar Factory mentioned in the Schedule, shall, except with the previous permission in writing of the Cane Commissioner or any Officer authorised by him in this behalf, manufacture sugar or gur from sugarcane.
